Gpart 0.2.1 Description:
Gpart for Linux - A collection of Open Source patches for gpart from all Linux-based operating systems
Gpart is a free, small and open source command-line program implemented in C and designed from the offset to be used for detecting and validating existing partition types of a hard disk drive (HDD), making sure that the primary partition table has not been damaged. It should not be confused with the GParted software, as Gpart is engineered to scans the entire device (or file) and uses its guessing modules to determine if a known file system starts at a given sector. The software comes with several built-in filesystem guessing modules, but it also allows users to dynamically add custom modules. More details can be found in the manual page or on the project’s website (see link at the end of the article).
