GEGL stands for Generic Graphics Library and is a graph based image processing library written in C using gobject from glib for object orientation. GEGL original design was made to scratch GIMPs itches for a new compositing and processing core. This core is being designed to have minimal dependencies. and a simple well defined API. It is still a work in progress, but it already provides for a capable system.
